| 911 - Local Ambulance Service |
| When a "911" call is made by a Liberty City resident, the sheriff's dispatcher will automatically contact the Laird Memorial Ambulance Service. Robert King is the Director of the ambulance service and he has provided us with the following information: Non-Emergency Call Approximate Cost per call $570.00 plus mileage* Emergency Call / No Medicines Administered Approximate Cost per call $685.90 plus mileage* Emergency Call / With Medicines Administered Approximate cost per call is $1316.00 plus mileage* * $6.85 per mile - mileage is based on the location of the hospital requested by the patient. They will transport a patient to the following hospitals: Laird Memorial in Kilgore, Good Shepherd in Longview, Longview Regional, University of Texas Medical Center in Tyler, East Texas Medical Center in Tyler and Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. If the patient is "unconscious" the paramedics will make the determination of the hospital best equipped to handle the emergency. The Laird Memorial Ambulance service does not offer a "yearly subscription" service and we do not have a large enough "call volume" to warrant a full-time ambulance service here in Liberty City. F.Y.I. - Champion Ambulance service provides a "wheel chair van transport" service for anyone needing transportation to the doctor or for out patient visits. There is a fee for this service and you must call in advance to arrange pickup. Please check with your insurance to see if they will cover the costs. If you are interested in calling Champion for this service, please call 315-3911 or 291-2500. |
